Direct Deposit Tip: Save Money By Using Direct Deposit

in Checking

Most of us who have ended up on the ChexSystems list have spent most of our financial energy looking for a good non-ChexSystems bank. It’s difficult to think about other financial issues, much less saving money.

But here’s a great (and easy) way for you to save money. It’s a simple technique that almost anyone can use, even folks on ChexSystems or people with prepaid debit card accounts.

Here’s the tip — if your employer offers direct deposit, USE IT.

Even better, use it to “split” your paycheck into two deposits each pay period. A first deposit that goes into your normal checking or banking account (or prepaid debit account) that is large enough to cover your living expenses and bills, and a second deposit that goes into a savings account. It doesn’t matter if the savings deposit is $10 a month, or $100 a month, you just need to do it.

You’ll be amazed at how quickly the savings balance adds up. Without any effort on your part.

You can learn more about how easy it is to “split” your direct deposit into two separate accounts at ElectronicPayments’ website.
